Upcycled Firewood

Most of my projects are made from wood that would normally end up as firewood or scrap.  I use wood from fallen trees and trees cut down for reasons other than lumber, such as clearing lines or roadways, landscaping, construction, and lot clearing.  This type of wood is often burned on site in a burn pile or simply pushed deeper into the woods to rot and where it can become a wildfire risk.  Since I am creating crafts and small objects I can use this scrap wood as  lumber..

Ornaments
I make the "cookies" or crosscut segments for my Ornaments from tree branches.  A variety of tools can be used to cut these, Tablesaw, Chopsaw, and Bandsaw are the ones I typically use.

Thin Stock
Light Catchers, Coasters, and Intarsia require thin stock (1/2" or thinner).  These pieces come from chopped firewood that can be milled and resawed in my shop.
